  1.                              PRINT OPTIONS MENU

  4.         The PRINT  OPTIONS MENU contains all  of the print options  used to
  5.  control how an average sheet will appear when printed. By changing various
  6.  options, a fully customized printout may be generated. The options used to
  7.  produce the sheet may then be saved to disk for use at a later time.
  8.  
  9.         Along side of each option is  the initial default setting as set by
  10.  the Deafults Editor. The initial values  were saved to disk along with the
  11.  Team and Bowler databases when the  league was first defined in Setup. Any
  12.  changes  made  by  the  Defaults  Editor,  submenu  2)  Printout,  will be
  13.  reflected here.

  38.         Left unchanged, BowlStat will print a "standard" average  sheet  as
  39.  determined  by the order of the menu selections in the PRINT OPTIONS MENU.
  40.  The number of bowler names printed for each award are  determined  by  the
  41.  values assigned to each option. This standard sheet consists of:
  42.  
  43.         o League Name
  44.         o Bowler Averages
  45.         o Bowler HIGH SERIES
  46.         o Bowler HIGH SINGLES
  47.         o Bowler HIGH NO MARKS
  48.         o Bowler USER DEFINED
  49.         o Team Standings

  51.  Print League Name (default "Y")
  52.  -----------------

  54.         A setting of "Y" will cause the current League Name to be  printed,
  55.  boardered  with  "*"'s  both  above  and below. Also, the current date (in
  56.  MM-DD-YYYY format), will be printed in the upper right hand corner of  the
  57.  page.  This  option is internally set to "Y" for database dumps and cannot
  58.  be changed.

  61.  Print by Division (default "N")
  62.  -----------------

  64.         Change  this  option  to  "Y"  to  group  Averges,  Awards and Team
  65.  Standings by Division. Immediately to the  right of the header will appear
  66.  the name for the division currently being printed. The default option will
  67.  print all bowler names together, regardless of what division they are in.

  70.  Round Averages (default "N")

  73.         Change this option to "Y" to print averages rounded to the  nearest
  74.  10th  of  a  pin. For example, 120.578 would be printed as 120.6, with the
  75.  default setting, it would be printed as 120.5

  78.  Number of AVERAGES (default "*" = all)
  79.  ------------------

  81.         This option specifies the maximun number of bowler names  to  print
  82.  when  printing averages. The default is "*", all bowlers. To omit averages
  83.  from the printout, enter a value of 0.
  84.  
  85.         BowlStat  divides  the  average  sheet  into two halves (a left and
  86.  right). LADIES averages will be printed in the left half and MENS averages
  87.  will appear in the right (ladies before gentlemen).  If the  league  is  a
  88.  "mens or ladies only" league, BowlStat will print the averages in the left
  89.  column only.

  92.  Enhanced AVERAGES (default "N")

  95.         Normally,  the  average  award  consists  of  the  bowlers name and
  96.  average. The printout may be enhanced by changing the  default  option  to
  97.  "Y".  Along  with  the bowlers name and average, the current total pinfall
  98.  and the number of strings bowled will also appear.

  100.         To make room for the enhanced information, BowlStat will print only
  101.  the initial of the bowlers first name. With the option at default, as much
  102.  of  the  first  name  will  be  printed,  determined  by  existing  column
  103.  limitations.

  109.  Print SPARES (default "Y")

  112.         To  omit  "Spare"  bowlers  from  ALL printouts, change the default
  113.  option to "N". All sheets printed will contain only regular bowlers.

  116.  Number of HIGH SERIES (default "3")

  119.         Enter the number of bowler names to print  for  the  "HIGH  SERIES"
  120.  award. To omit this award from the prinout, enter a value of 0.

  123.  Number of HIGH SINGLES (default "3")

  126.         Enter  the  number  of  bowler names to print for the "HIGH SINGLE"
  127.  individual award. To omit this award form the printout, enter a  value  of

  131.  Number of HI NO MARKS (default "3")

  134.         The HIGH NO MARK award is used in the Candlepin Bowling game. It is
  135.  the string score of a bowler who has fail to either bowl a strike or spare
  136.  and indicates how well a bowler has "pinned".

  138.         Enter  the  number  of bowler names to print for the "HIGH NO MARK"
  139.  individual award. To omit this award form the printout, enter a  value  of
  140.  0.

  143.  Number of USER DEFINED (default "2")

  146.         The USER DEFINED award is an  indipendant award set by the user. It
  147.  is defined in the Defaults Editor.  If not changed, it defaults to "BOWLER
  148.  - 69's" a Candlepin award. It represents  the number of strings in which a
  149.  bowler has scored a vaule of 69 in one of the frames bowled. For every one
  150.  bowled, the bowler contributes a sum of  money (usually $.25) to a pot and
  151.  the bowler with the highest total at the end of the season receives all of
  152.  the money collected.

  154.         Enter  the number  of bowler  names to  print for  the USER DEFINED
  155.  individual award. To  omit this award form the printout,  enter a value of
  156.  0.

  159.  Print CLUB SCORES (default "Y")

  162.         BowlStat  will print  all bowler  names and  scores for  anyone who
  163.  meets the  minimum  club requirements, as defined in  the Defaults Editor.
  164.  The club can be either an individual string or high series. If CLUB SCORES
  165.  are not to be printed, change the default option to "N".

  182.         BowlStat retrieves the Club Scores from the Yearly Statistics file.
  183.  Because the file  becomes larger as more Yearly  Statistics are added, the
  184.  printout speed  will decrease over time.  This is normal and  should be no
  185.  cause for concern.

  187.  Print TEAM STANDINGS (default "Y")

  190.         This option turns on/off the printing of team standings.  Standings
  191.  will  appear  in  the order of points WON, from highest to lowest. If Team
  192.  Standings are not required, change the default option to "N".

  195.  Enhanced TEAM STANDINGS (default = "N")

  198.         If Team Standings are to be printed, they can be enhanced with this
  199.  option. Along with the normal output of Team Name, Point Won, Points  Lost
  200.  and  Total  Points, BowlStat will include Total Pinfall, High Single, High
  201.  Series and the percentage of wins vs losses.

  222.         This option is valid only if the avearage sheet is to be printed on
  223.  a printer, as selected by the OUTPUT MENU.  By changing the default option
  224.  to  "N",  the  printer  will  NOT  go to the top of the next page when the
  225.  printing  of  the  average  sheet  has  been  completed.  The  option   is
  226.  automatically  set  to  "N" when the output device is either the SCREEN or
  227.  DISK DRIVE.

  229.         This option also allows average sheets  to  be  customized  to  any
  230.  requirements.  By changing the default option to "N", an average sheet may
  231.  be  "built" in any order by overlaying sheets created with different print
  232.  options. For example, to print  Team  Standings  first  then  followed  by
  233.  bowler averages and individual awards:
  234.  
  235.         o Select sheet BY AVERAGE and output to PRINTER.
  236.  
  237.           1) Enter "Y" or "N" to Print League Name option.
  238.           2) Enter 0 to the Number of AVERAGES option. (No Averages)
  239.           3) Enter 0 to the Number of HIGH SERIES, Number of HIGH SINGLES,
  240.              Number of HIGH NO MARKS and Number of SIXTY NINES.
  241.           4) Enter "Y" to the Print TEAM STANDINGS option.
  242.           5) Enter "N" to the Eject PAGE When Done option.

  244.           Print the  average sheet by  exiting the Print  Options Menu with
  245.  the ESC (escape) key.

  247.          Since the  Eject PAGE When  Done option prevents  the printer from
  248.  performing a form feed to the next sheet, anything now printed will appear
  249.  after the Team Standings. To conclude this example:
  250.  
  251.           1) Enter "N" for the PRINT LEAGUE NAME option.
  252.           2) Enter the required value to the Number of AVERAGES,
  253.              Number of HIGH SERIES, Number of HIGH SINGLES,
  254.              Number of HIGH NO MARKS and Number of SIXTY NINES options.
  255.           3) Enter "N" to the Print TEAM STANDINGS option.

  257.           Print the remainder  of the average sheet. The  result will be an
  258.  average sheet in the following order:
  259.  
  260.      1) League Name.
  261.      2) Team Standings.
  262.      3) Averages.
  263.      4) Individual Awards.
  264.  
  265.         By  varying  the  "Y"/"N"  and  number entries to the various print
  266.  options, BowlStat can build a printout  to  any  requirements.   Once  the
  267.  desired  format  has been obtained, the individual options can be saved to
  268.  disk as a set and loaded back in to speed up the printing process. In  the
  269.  above  example,  the  two separate sets of print options could be saved to
  270.  disk under the filenames of PART1 and PART2. Then, to  print  the  average
  271.  sheet, the options can be loaded back into BowlStat.

  273.         Once the ESC (escape) key  has  been  pressed  to  exit  the  Print
  274.  Options  Menu,  BowlStat will ask if the print options currently in effect
  275.  should be saved to  disk.   If  they  are,  enter  "Y"  to  the  following
  276.  confimation prompt: "Save Print Format? (Y/N):". Enter a filename (maximum
  277.  length of 8 characters) in which to store the print options.

  279.  NOTES:  Average  sheet  building  is also possible to the DISK DRIVE. When
  280.          prompted for a name to save the average  sheet  under,  enter  the
  281.          same name as a previously printed average  sheet.   BowlStat  will
  282.          ask the following confirmation: "SHEET EXISTS!  OK  to  APPEND  to
  283.          it?   (Y/N):".   Enter  "Y" and press the "Enter" or "Return" key.
  284.          The  sheet,  as  defined  by  the  current  print options, will be
  285.          appended to the file currently on the disk drive.
